The lighthouses that are in use in Finland today have brought safety for the seaways since 1753. The lighthouses, often located on isolated islands all along the Finnish coast line, needed plenty of maintenance in harsh Finnish weather conditions, and that’s why those lighthouses were hosting rather big communities of both adults and children until the mid-20th century. Children of some of the lighthouse islands’ families grew up without any contact with the mainland.

This unique tour takes you to four different lighthouses in South Western Finland. On the way you will visit and have guided tours at picturesque towns with historical wooden architecture. Also, you will experience a glimpse of Viking life at Rosala Viking Centre, located in an area which is known as an important hub for Vikings over 1000 years ago.

Highlights of the tour:

Four lighthouses (Kylmäpihlaja, Isokari, Bengtskär and Suomenlinna), two UNESCO World Heritage Sites (Rauma and Suomenlinna), Uusikaupunki, Naantali (/Turku), Rosala Viking Centre
